The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Jan. 3 that 2024 was America’s second-busiest year in history for flights. The previous record was set before the COVID-19 pandemic. In a statement that was also published through Medium, the FAA said its preliminary data showed that the United States logged roughly 16.86 million flights in the nation’s airspace in 2024, an increase of about 500,000 from the previous year’s 16.36 million. An FAA representative told The Epoch Times that 2024 also saw the second-highest number of flights recorded in 12 months after 2019 when roughly 17.01 million flights were logged domestically by Air Traffic Control. Thursdays continued to be the most popular air travel day of the week last year, with more than 2.58 million Thursday flights logged in 2024.
