Major League Baseball has exercised its right to impose a season on the players per the terms of an earlier agreement between the two sides. The league announced Monday night “the MLB clubs have unanimously voted to proceed with the 2020 season under the terms of the March 26 agreement.”

Commissioner Rob Manfred was left with no choice but to implement a season per the terms of the March agreement, after the MLBPA and owners could not come to a mutual agreement.

Players have been asked to respond by 5 p.m. Tuesday with two pieces of information: first, whether they can report to spring training 2.0 — which will be held in each team’s home park — by July 1, and second, whether the MLBPA will agree on the 67-page health protocol manual previously created by the league.

Multiple reports said the season will be 60 games, though none of this assures the season will make it to its end or even start on time.
