Domhnall Gleeson attends Premiere of Peacocks series The Paper Los Angeles^ CA USA - August 27^ 2025

Peacock’s comedy series “The Paper” will return for its second season on Wednesday, Sept. 9, with the streaming platform releasing all sophomore episodes simultaneously at launch. The workplace mockumentary, which exists within the same creative universe as the Emmy Award-winning series “The Office,” follows the same camera crew as they document the daily operations and survival efforts of a struggling Midwestern newspaper, the Toledo Truth Teller.

Co-created and executive produced by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, the series features an ensemble cast led by Domhnall Gleeson as Ned Sampson, the dedicated editor-in-chief striving to restore the publication’s regional prestige. The returning cast includes Sabrina Impacciatore as Managing Editor Esmeralda Grand, Chelsea Frei as Mare Pritti, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Tim Key, Ramona Young, Eric Rahill, Duane Shepard Sr., and Alex Edelman. Oscar Nuñez is also set to return, reprising his role as former Dunder Mifflin accountant Oscar Martinez.

The second season will pick up after the Toledo Truth Teller sweeps the Ohio Journalism Awards. According to the official network logline, the upcoming episodes will follow Ned as he “searches for a journalistic crusade, coming for a local private club and jeopardizing the paper, while he and Mare try to figure out their attraction, Esmeralda struggles to find her place, and the staff gradually mature as reporters.” The season will also feature guest appearances from Jon Lovitz, Andy Richter, Lisa Gilroy, Matt Braunger, Toks Olagundoye, and Phil Hendrie.
