Country star Lainey Wilson has kicked off a fresh chapter in her career with the release of a brand-new single, “Can’t Sit Still.” The track marks her first new music since her latest album, Whirlwind, and  arrives alongside a music video featuring Wilson in a bold new style – sporting head-to-toe black leather looks that match the song’s edgy attitude.

The energetic song was co-written by Wilson alongside Trannie Anderson, Aslan Freeman, and Dallas Wilson, and captures the spirit of someone who refuses to slow down and insists on living life their own way. Wilson has said that even as a kid in school she struggled to stay in her seat, sometimes sitting on her hands to keep from jumping up to dance. That restless streak shows up in the lyrics, where she compares herself to “an outside dog on an inside leash” and “a raindrop running down a cracked windshield.”

The theme of constant motion mirrors Wilson’s own schedule, who recently stepped into acting for the first time with a role in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Reminders of Him. Meanwhile, a documentary about her life and career, “Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool,” premieres at the South by Southwest festival in Austin before landing on Netflix on April 22.

On the touring front, Wilson is gearing up for her next run of shows, including a performance at RodeoHouston and major festival appearances later this year at Stagecoach, JazzFest, and the Windy City Smokeout, along with select stadium dates with Chris Stapleton.
