Visibility is dropping to one mile or less in many locations due to ongoing rain showers and melting of the existing snow and sleet pack. This process is creating a thick, low-lying fog that will persist even after rainfall lightens. Roadways may also be slushy and slick as rain continues to fall on top of compacted ice and snow. Recommended Safety Actions: Reduce your speed on roadways. The combination of fog and wet/slushy pavement significantly increases stopping distances. High beams will reflect off the fog and water droplets, further reducing your ability to see the road. Leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
