
All of the nation’s Democratic governors are meeting this weekend in Los Angeles, as California Gov. Gavin Newsom welcomes his counterparts for their annual winter meeting of the Democratic Governors Association (DGA).
Newsom said he would position the state to lead the opposition against many of President-elect Trump’s anticipated policy overhauls and regulatory reforms upon his return to the White House on Jan. 20.
The meeting will include Democratic governors from 23 states, four U.S. territories, and the Mayor of the District of Columbia Muriel Bowser. The current chair of the DGA is Laura Kelly, the Governor of Kansas.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who is dealing with a statewide migrant crisis and the Wednesday assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan, made the cross-country trip. Meanwhile, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who has called for changes to the city’s sanctuary policies, appears to be ready to work with Trump on the issue of illegal immigration in recent weeks….
